About Me
I am a student and artist who sells commissioned art and other handmade goods through my business Aleena’s Artistry. All of my proceeds go towards Empowered Education A.R.T. Initiative, Inc., a nonprofit organization I created to teach Art, Reading & Technology skills to underserved kids around the world.
It is my goal to make sure every child has access to a quality education in academics and the arts so that they may create a better life for themselves and their families.
I teach my program to underprivileged kids in Pakistan, as well as refugees and unhoused youth in Southern California. I hope to expand to even more communities soon!
Empowered Education A.R.T. Initiative, Inc.
My family comes from Pakistan, where almost twenty-three million children are currently out of school. As a result, I have grown up with a deep understanding of just how fortunate I am to be able to learn academics and the arts, and I have tried never to take my education for granted. Further, I believe in paying it forward; I aim to show my appreciation for the opportunities I have been offered by spreading such opportunities to underprivileged kids, both in Pakistan and in my local community, all of whom deserve the chance to reach their full potential.
Aleena’s Artistry
I have loved art for my entire life and have been studying this passion of mine since I was 7-years-old. To me, art is the ultimate form of expression and storytelling through which I can share my thoughts with the world. I love using my artwork to share untold stories that deserve to be heard in an attempt to create social change in my community. For example, my oil painting of Jamila, a Syrian refugee, was displayed at the Art Share LA museum in the Los Angeles Arts District along with an essay detailing her story and struggles.
In order to further share my art with the world, I have created my business, Aleena’s Artistry, through which I sell art commissions along with handmade goods. I sell online, as well as at local markets.
